Content Creation Zone

A guide on how to access and use Ross Memorial Library's Content Creation Zone (CCZ).

Do I have to pay to use the CCZ?

No! The CCZ is free for all Cottey students, faculty, and staff to use. Simply follow the instructions listed in "Where is the Content Creation Zone".

There are fines & fees involved with the CCZ, however, for violating policies or breaking/damaging equipment. For example, there is a $5.00 fee for returning the CCZ late and a $20.00 fee for violating the no food or drink policy.

For more information, please see "Can I have food or drink in the CCZ?" or "What if I accidentally break/damage something?".

Can I reserve the CCZ?

Yes! You can reserve the room by going to Event Manager

Please know the CCZ closes 15 minutes before the library does everyday.

Can I have food or drink in the CCZ?

The CCZ has a NO FOOD OR DRINK policy. The equipment stored there is very expensive and could be broken or damaged if they come into contact with liquid.

If this policy is violated, there is a $20.00 fine that must be paid, alongside any other costs for damaged or broken equipment.

Please refer to "What if I accidentally break/damage something?" or for further details.

Can I complete my FWS podcast here?

Yes! The CCZ was created for this purpose!

Can I be heard in the room?

The CCZ is soundproofed to the best of it's ability, so for the most part, you won't be heard. That being said, however, try to be conscientious of your volume in the room when classes are going on/the space is being used. Try to refrain from shouting when in the space just to be safe.

Can I checkout equipment from the CCZ to bring outside of the library?

No! The equipment in the CCZ has to stay in the CCZ unless it is taken out by a staff member for maintenance.

Every object in the room has a price tied to it that will have to be paid if the object goes missing or gets damaged.

For more information, please refer to the "Available Equipment" section of this guide.

What is in the CCZ that I can use?

Please refer to the "Available Equipment" tab to see what is in the CCZ.

What if I accidentally break/damage something?

We ask that you are careful and contentious when you are in the CCZ, but should there be an accident and you damage or break something, please alert the staff member at the circulation desk immediately. This will allow us to assess the situation and figure out if the damage requires the room to be temporarily closed till we can fix the problem.

Please be aware that even if it was an accident, there is still a fee that will have to be paid for breaking or damaging the equipment. Below are some of the possible costs.

Canon Camera - $385

Photo Video Studio Light Kit - $175

Blue Yeti Microphone - $130

LED Ring Lights - $25

Henkur Camera Adapter Charging Port - $20

Blue Cloud Light Neon Sign - $18

Sunnyglad USB Charging/Batter LED Neon Dec. Lights - $12

UGreen Micro USB 2.0 Cable on the go Adapter male/female - $5

What if something is broken/missing?

While this shouldn't happen since the staff members check the room daily, should you enter the room and notice that something is broken or missing, please alert the staff member at the circulation desk immediately. By alerting us of the situation, we can properly assess the situation and figure out the next steps. If you have accidentally broken something, please refer to the section above, "What if I accidentally break/damage something".

What if I want to use something, but I don’t know how?

If you have a question about how to work an object, try looking at our "Tutorials" tab.

If that tab doesn't answer your question, feel free to try a Google search.

If you still can't find anything useful, or something still doesn't make sense, feel free to ask a staff member for assistance.

What is “The Sign?”

"The Sign" is what we use to check the CCZ out to you. Because of the nature of the room, we are unable to check the key out to you. In order to circumnavigate this issue, we have created "The Sign". This sign also alerts others that the room is in use so they can be just as respectful in the shared spaces.

How many people can be in the CCZ at once?

Technically, there should only be 2 people in the room at once due to the size and equipment involved. Should you have a bigger group, however, please notify a staff member and we will see what we can do.

What if I am in a group?

All group members will need to sign the form stating you understand the rules of the room. We do this to ensure that everyone has the same understanding of what is and isn't allowed in the room.

"The Sign" will only be checked out to one person. If the room needs to be renewed while in use, however, any group member can bring "The Sign" back to the desk for renewal.

It is recommended that all the group members are present before checking out the room. The two hour limit begins as soon as "The Sign" is scanned out, so it is beneficial to get as much work done as possible. If someone is arriving late, however, please have another group member come to the desk to meet them so that a staff member can have them sign the form and alert them of the rules of the room as well.

Please do not have people who have not signed the form for the CCZ in the room. Outside of acknowledging you know the rules, this is also for safety purposes, such as knowing who is when/where/and why.

Please be aware that the CCZ is always locked. Even after a staff member unlocks the room for you, it will lock again after you leave. This is for safety purposes, so if you do have a group member show up late, the room will have to be unlocked for them.

Do I have to sign the form I’m given? If so, why?

Yes! This form simply states that you understand and are aware of the rules of the CCZ. It is simply a safety precaution in case something mysteriously goes missing or breaks in between uses of the room, so that conversations can be held with the appropriate people. To check out this form for yourself before signing it at the library, please look under "Important Links/PDFs".
